“YES - DJ WON AGAIN!”
Dustin Johnson (Jupiter , Fla) won the FedExCup and the TOUR Championship for the first time in his career. The spoils are nice, too. Johnson collects his 23rd career PGA Tour win today (September 7, 2020), a $15 million check and likely the PGA Tour Player of the Year award after winning the Travelers Championship, The Northern Trust and the Tour Championship over these last few months.
DJ’s win means he has grossed an eye-popping $20.8 million for the year — not too shabby for 14 official tournaments! “Being a FedEx Cup champion is something that I really wanted to do. I wanted to hold that trophy at the end of the day,” Johnson said. “It was something that I wanted to accomplish during my career.”
"This is a tough golf course. No lead is safe," Johnson said. "The guys gave me a good fight today."

2020 Masters - No Patrons or Guests on the Grounds.
Fred Ridley, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, announced today that the 2020 Masters Tournament will take place November 9-15 without patrons or guests on the grounds.
“Since our initial announcement to postpone the 2020 Masters, we have remained committed to a rescheduled Tournament in November while continually examining how best to host a global sporting event amid this pandemic,” said Ridley. “As we have considered the issues facing us, the health and safety of everyone associated with the Masters always has been our first and most important priority.
“Throughout this process, we have consulted with health officials and a variety of subject matter experts. Ultimately, we determined that the potential risks of welcoming patrons and guests to our grounds in November are simply too significant to overcome.
“Even in the current circumstances, staging the Masters without patrons is deeply disappointing. The guests who come to Augusta each spring from around the world are a key component to making the Tournament so special. Augusta National has the responsibility, however, to understand and accept the challenges associated with this virus and take the necessary precautions to conduct all aspects of the Tournament in a safe manner. We look forward to the day when we can welcome all of our patrons back, hopefully in April 2021.
“We appreciate the support and patience of all those we serve – including the Augusta community, our corporate and broadcast partners and our friends in golf – as we continue to plan for this historic event.”
All 2020 ticket holders will be guaranteed the same tickets for the 2021 Masters. Augusta National will communicate directly with all ticket holders and 2021 ticket applicants in September.

MORIKAWA MASTERFUL AT MUIRFIELD VILLAGE
“Jack Nicklaus has made tweaks to his legendary course in Dublin, Ohio, through the years. On Sunday, a roller coaster appeared. Well, sort of. Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas went back and forth during a dramatic final round, trading leads and remarkable shots before the emotional up-and-down day concluded on the third playoff hole. When the drama dispersed, Morikawa was the last man standing as the winner of the Workday Charity Open. “It was crazy,” said Morikawa, 23, who shot 6-under 66. “I knew I had to go low. Justin wasn’t going to give it to me.” He was right. Thomas began the day with a two-shot lead, but after the first five holes, he was trailing by three due to Morikawa’s fast start. Then everything flipped. Thomas went 7-under during an eight-hole stretch. But Morikawa battled back to force a playoff, and the first hole will go down in history as Thomas drained a 50-footer for birdie, just before Morikawa sank a 24-footer to continue the playoff. Two holes later, Morikawa picked up his second win in only his 24th TOUR start as a pro. In fact, he now has more wins (two) than missed cuts (one) on TOUR. Thomas moved to No. 1 in the FedExCup standings while Morikawa moved to No. 6.”

Simpson won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February and now has five top-10 finishes in his last seven starts. “Daniel Berger Wins Colonial Playoff”
With a par on the first extra hole and a lip-out by Collin Morikawa, 2011 William T. Dwyer High School (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla) graduate, Daniel Berger won the Charles Schwab Challenge in a playoff on Sunday, June 14, 2020 with a -15.

The victory, which came with no spectators on the course, was the third career U.S. PGA title for Berger, whose wins at the 2016 and 2017 St. Jude Classics also came on the second weekend of June.
It was a level the 27-year-old Jupiter, Florida Champion feared he might not attain again after his injury. "It's just a range of emotions," said Berger. "I've grinded so hard the last two months -- just to be in this position. I'm glad all the hard work paid off.” CONGRATULATIONS!

HATTON WINS 2020 ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL AT BAY HILL
“It was tough to tell if there was more windburn or heartburn on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. Extremely challenging conditions with gusty winds and slick greens, coupled with a classic layout baring its teeth, led to plenty of Sunday drama at Bay Hill. When the final putt dropped, Tyrrell Hatton was the lone man standing with a well-earned one-shot lead over Marc Leishman for his first PGA TOUR victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. “It’s an incredible feeling,” Hatton, 28, said. “Such a tough day today … To hold on to win here at such an iconic venue, I’m over the moon.” How tough were the conditions? No one broke 70 on Saturday, and only four players finished under par for the week. Hatton shot 2-over 74 in the final round, but it must have felt like a 64 to the fun-loving Englishman. Hatton pockets 500 FedExCup points, a three-year exemption, a cool $1.6 million and tons of confidence heading to TPC Sawgrass.” PGA Tour Wire
IM MAKES HISTORY AT PGA NATIONAL
“The Bear Trap bared its teeth and PGA National bit plenty of contenders. In the end, it was Sungjae Im grinning with the trophy. Shifting winds, famously tough greens and one of the toughest three-hole stretches in golf provided plenty of drama at The Honda Classic, but Im was up for the challenge and earned his first PGA TOUR victory. Im, who received the Arnold Palmer Award as the 2019 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year, shot a final-round 66 to clip Tommy Fleetwood and Mackenzie Hughes by one shot. He also went 2 under on The Bear Trap on Sunday when everyone else wilted. “I’ve been in this spot many times, and it helped me stay in the moment,” Im said. “I feel like the experience really helped.” Im, 21, was competing in his 50th TOUR start and became the youngest winner of The Honda Classic. With his 500 FedExCup points, he rocketed to No. 2 in the standings behind Justin Thomas and pocketed a check worth $1.26 million. Just as importantly, he’s now exempt for two years on TOUR, making the sweet-swinging ball-striker yet another young star to watch.” PGA Tour Wire
“REED RISES TO THE OCCASION IN MEXICO
The leaderboard was loaded with superstars, and if you blinked, there was a new leader. After all the drama, clutch shots and nervous moments, Patrick Reed stood alone with yet another World Golf Championships title. Reed shot a final-round 67 to hold off the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm to win the WGC-Mexico Championship in a thriller. Reed now has eight PGA TOUR wins, and after winning this event in 2015, he’s now only the 15th player to claim multiple WGCs. “It’s very rewarding to come back and win my second WGC, especially with how I had to finish.” And what a finish it was. He had to two-putt the final green to avoid a playoff with DeChambeau, and Reed was up to the task. After tapping in a short putt for bogey, and letting out a small fist pump, he took in the cheers from the fans at Club de Golf Chapultepec. Reed earned 550 FedExCup points and a $1.82 million payday.” PGA Tour Wire
“ADAM SCOTT wins The Genesis Invitational”
“A legendary venue and a leaderboard full of stars. So in the end it was fitting that one of the game’s most popular and successful A-listers found his name atop the marquee in Los Angeles. Adam Scott survived tough scoring conditions at storied Riviera Country Club to win The Genesis Invitational by two shots with a final-round 1-under 70. “It’s amazing. I’ve loved this place since Day One,” said Scott, who picked up his 14th TOUR win. “It was tough out there today but the crowd was incredible. I feel like they’re on my side.”
It was Scott’s first TOUR victory since 2016, when he won The Honda Classic and the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. The former PLAYERS champion also became the third Australian to win on TOUR in the past six weeks (Cameron Smith, Sony Open in Hawaii; Marc Leishman, Farmers Insurance Open). Scott pockets 500 FedExCup points and a winner’s check worth $1.674 million, one of the biggest paydays of the TOUR season. This was the first year The Genesis Invitational was competed under elevated invitational status. One of the benefits of winning now? Instead of champions receiving two-year TOUR exemptions, they will receive three-year passes. The only other two TOUR events outside of THE PLAYERS Championship and World Golf Championships which have elevated status are the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and Jack Nicklaus’ the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. Nice company to be in, and nice timing by Scott.” PGA Tour Wire
Andrew LANDRY - A Winner!
“Win once on the PGA TOUR? An amazing accomplishment. Everything lines up perfectly, and maybe the golf gods gave a wink from above. Win twice on the PGA TOUR? Well, that’s different. You belong. Andrew Landry led by five shots late on Sunday, saw it all disappear, then went birdie-birdie on his final two holes to win The American Express by two shots over Abraham Ancer in La Quinta, California. It was Landry’s second PGA TOUR win, the first coming at the 2018 Valero Texas Open (And if you want a super-secret tip from a TOUR pro on how he “turns and burns it,” watch this). Back on the record, the 32-year-old Texan won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour (2015, 2017) before earning his PGA TOUR card. And he’s made the most of it. With his win, Landry receives 500 FedExCup points, $1.2 million and entry into THE PLAYERS Championship. Not a bad week in California.” PGATour Media
SMITH SURGES TO PLAYOFF WIN IN HAWAII
“High winds. High stress. And tough, wet scoring conditions. Not an ideal day on the golf course for most players. Except for Cameron Smith. The 26-year-old Australian did what he needed to do in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, holding off Brendan Steele in a playoff to secure his second win on the PGA TOUR. Smith, who along with fellow Australian Marc Leishman, played with heavy hearts this week as the wildfires in their home country continued to worsen. Both players donated money to the cause, and other TOUR pros followed suit. Smith, whose only other win came at the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which is a team event, calmly converted an 8-foot birdie putt to force a playoff after Steele made bogey. In the playoff, Smith stuck his approach on the par-4 10th to 7 feet. Steele, meanwhile, flew his approach over the green and failed to make up and down. “I just had to hang in there,” said Smith, who opened the first round going bogey-triple bogey on his first two holes. “No was one playing good golf today, it seemed like. The conditions got a lot easier in the end there. I just hung in there.” With the victory, Smith earns 500 FedExCup points and nearly $1.2 million as the TOUR completes its two-event stay in Hawaii. Smith jumped 35 spots to No. 5 in the FedExCup standings. This was was the sixth playoff in the first 13 events of the 2019-2020 PGA TOUR season.” PGA Tour Wire!
“TWICE AS NICE FOR JUSTIN THOMAS IN HAWAII
Justin Thomas was rolling. Then came the roller coaster. Thomas battled through poor drives down the stretch, a mind-numbing shot into the penalty area, a fat 3-wood usually seen on blooper videos and three playoff holes before finally winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions for the second time at Kapalua. Whew. If the first event of 2020 is a preview for what’s to come, buckle up. Thomas was in complete control through the first 15 holes on Sunday before craziness ensued. It was Thomas’ to win as he headed to the 72nd hole with a one-shot lead over Schauffele. But Thomas hit his second shot in the penalty area, failed to get up and down after his drop, and settled for bogey. All Schauffele had to do was 2-putt from 35 feet to win, but after hitting his first putt 7 feet by the hole, he couldn’t convert the come-backer. Bonus golf for everyone! Patrick Reed exited the clubhouse to join the three-man playoff after watching the drama unfold on TV. And there was even more drama to come. Schauffele was eliminated after the first playoff hole, Thomas and Reed made par on the second, and with the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean, there was time for only one more hole. And that’s where Thomas stepped up. He stuck his second shot within 3 feet of the cup while Reed struggled. Moments later, it was all over. “For some reason I was supposed to win this week,” said Thomas, who won 11 weeks ago at the THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES. Thomas, 26, earned his 12th win on the PGA TOUR, more than any active player under age 30. Thomas also vaulted to the top of the FedExCup standings and gets a return invite to Kapalua next season. But for now, he might still be a bit dizzy after getting off the ride.” PGA Tour Wire
“STENSON SUPERB IN THE BAHAMAS
The superstars were aligned. Tiger Woods was tied for the lead. Jon Rahm was making a charge. And Justin Thomas was in prime position. Then Henrik Stenson decided to put on another legendary ball-striking display. And that ended everything. Stenson won the Hero World Challenge at Albany by one shot over Rahm, while Woods, the tournament host, finished four shots back in fourth place. The annual 18-man gathering benefitting Woods’ foundation saw plenty of fireworks in the final round, highlighted by Stenson’s 259-yard 5-wood approach on the par-5 15th hole. It came to rest eight inches from the cup for a tap-in eagle. "I came in with a better feeling,” Stenson said. “Confidence can be a little higher sometimes, but I'm happy with the way I hung in there." Stenson has a home at Albany and is familiar with the course. He was all but due for a win after finishing second twice here in the last five years. But now, finally, the Tiger trophy is in his clutches.” PGA Wire

That means winning, and lately, it’s come in bunches. The reigning FedExCup champion was sharp all week in Shanghai and won the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in a playoff against Xander Schauffele. “I try 100% over every shot, because I realize I don't have as much time left as I used to when I was 20,” McIlroy, 30, said. His sense of urgency has resulted in a surge of victories. The PGA TOUR Player of the Year has won four times in his last 15 starts. It started with THE PLAYERS Championship before he followed with wins at the RBC Canadian Open and the TOUR Championship before picking up more hardware in Shanghai. “I just wanted to play well until the end of the year to give myself a great platform going into 2020,” McIlroy said. That also means he’ll be near the top of the FedExCup standings entering the new year. It’s a strong start on his quest to become the first to ever win three FedExCup titles.” PGA Tour WiretoWire.
