Opened in June 1939, Langston is known for its triumphant role in the desegregation of public golf, and the course has been integral to the growth of the game’s popularity amongst African Americans. "Hole-In-One For Clewis - CONGRATULATIONS!"
Former President of the Sunshine State Amateur Golfers Association and current Vice President, Inner City Youth Golfers', Inc., Clewis Wright, Jr., had a hole-in-one on the 13th hole, measured at 165 yards, of the historic Langston Golf Course, Washington, DC on Sunday, September 18, 2011 following his participation and support of the "Annual Jimmy Garvin Legacy Golf Tournament.
Clewis was playing with three local golfers: Mack Sholas, Tony Burnett & Mike Sholas. Langston Golf Course is one of four golf facilities managed by Golf Course Specialist, Inc. Jimmy Garvin is the President. He celebrated in the club house upon completion of his round. |
