L:R - Vanessa Tolan, Geraldine Newton, Emily Butler and Malachi Knowles. "It was truly an honor to sit with these civil rights movers and shakers back in the 70's" said Malach Knowles, Publisher of Golfforeanyone.com. Ms. Tolan is blind. This was the first tournament for all of them. Malachi Knowles explained what was happening on the first tee during the opening ceremony of the Tour Championship. They also experienced seeing the players tee-off. Imagine only being able to hear the sound of the ball. "I know is a good hit by the sound of the club hitting the ball", said Ms. Tolan.

Golf is fore anyone!

It is enjoyed by millions worldwide.

One of the most special aspects of golf is that it can be played by people of all ages and abilities - girls and boys, and men and women alike. Golf spans all generations and can become your sport of choice for life. After all, what other sport can you name where a 5-year old and 80-year old can play together and both be competitive?

Golf is exciting to play, challenging, healthy and indeed, a great way to make new friends. It is a precision club-and-ball sport, in which competing players (golfers), using many types of clubs, attempt to hit balls into each hole on a golf course while employing the fewest number of strokes.

The exact origins of the sport of golf are unclear. The most widely accepted theory is that this sport originated in Scotland in the High Middle Ages. It is one of the few ball games that does not require a standardized playing area. Instead, the game is played on golf "courses", each of which features a unique design, although courses typically consist of either nine or 18 holes.

Golf is defined, in the rules of golf, as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules." Its terminology is unique to the great sport. Golf competition is generally played for the lowest number of strokes by an individual, known simply as stroke play, or the lowest score on the most individual holes during a complete round by an individual or team, known as match play.

Some people think that it costs a lot of money to play golf, mainly because they see the exclusive clubs hosting major tournaments and think all clubs are like that. It just doesn't have to be like that. There are lots of ways to develop your golfing interest without breaking the bank!

Welcome to golfforeanyone.com. It is our intent to provide you with continuous current golf news worldwide and share everything we can with you about this great game: the life skills of golf; fitness for golf; how to play it; what to play it with; where to play it; how to get there to play it; how to dress to play; be an outstanding volunteer and be a spectator.

Your corporate, product and advertising support will also help us continue growing the game of golf; providing scholarships and junior golf stipends to local community youth golf program participants such as Inner City Youth Golfers’, Inc. (www.icyg.org) and others all over the world.

Let’s tee it up and keep it on the short grass!
